INSTRUCTOR: Roberta Principe joins County College of Morris with a love for computer science and programming. Her goal is to introduce students to object orientated programming tools and provide them the technical foundation necessary to effectively implement these tools in the workplace. Prior to teaching at CCM, Professor Principe worked at Fairleigh Dickinson University as an adjunct professor and spent many years with in corporate education.  Other experiences include Technical Writing, Training, and Contingency Planning for Commerzbank in New York. Professor Principe holds an M.S. in Computer Science from PACE University and B.A. in International Economics and Finance from SUNY Fredonia. She is completing a Masters Level Certificate in Internet Programming from FDU.

C# - Intro to Programming Concepts

C# is designed to be a simple, modern, general-purpose, object-oriented programming language, borrowing key concepts from several other languages.  This is a perfect place to start even if you’ve never programmed before, or have limited programming experience.

Prerequisite:  Working knowledge of personal computers.

Course Objectives:

Students will-

Text: Will use Tony Gaddis, Visual C#, the text used at FDU. We will not be able to cover it all.  The students however, will have a well written text, they can continue to use.

Introduce Programming concepts using C#

We will complete many projects in C# that can be used as a demonstration of understanding of these basic programming tools.

Intro to Python

PYTHON INTRODUCTION (CPC-637E) PREREQUISITE: Introduction to Computer Programming or prior coding experience. Python is a general-purpose programming language, ideal for any application. This is a great language to start with if you are a beginner, and it is easy for experienced programmers to master.

In this course, students are introduced to the core language, learn about built-in data types and functions and work with imported modules. Students will directly apply these topics to a series of in-class projects. Bring your own laptop to class or a flash drive to save your work.

Text: Will use Tony Gaddis Python text. We will not be able to cover it all. The students however, will have a well written text, they can continue to use.

We will build on basic programming concepts learned in C# and move into an introduction to classes seeing the full power of an object oriented programming language.

We will complete a project in Pyhthon that can be used as a demonstration of understanding of these programming tools.

C++ Object Oriented Programming

C++ is a sophisticated, efficient and a general-purpose programming language based on C.  Many of today’s operating systems, system drivers, browsers and games use C++ as their core language. This makes C++ one of the most popular languages today.  Once you have the basics learned in C#, you will be ready to expand into the world of object oriented programming.

Prerequisite: Working knowledge of personal computers and the  C# class or equivalent programming skills.
